i figured i should try to compose a villanelle for fun. so here it goes.

Road of Life

i stumble as i go
though the road called life
who knows what my future holds

i climbed to the top of the mountain, and lo
i see but another moutain ahead
i stumble as i go

and yet still i try to know
when i might see a road that is straight
who knows what my future holds

at the peak of the second mountain, i yell, but hear only my echo
disappointed i make my way down once more
i stumble as i go

in the distance i spot my destination - a gate of gold
though far from it i am, i will not stop.
i stumble as i go
who knows what my future holds
